The WHY behind Praxis Institute
Over the past several years, we've watched something unfold across churches, counseling offices, and leadership circles that we couldn’t ignore.
Pastors, ministry leaders, and Christian caregivers are burning out in record numbers. They’re battle-worn, weary, and often without spaces where they can honestly attend to their own inner life. At the same time, we’re seeing an unmistakable hunger in our culture—a longing for deeper answers, for language to name suffering and desire, for a way to make sense of the ache beneath the surface. It's not something that psychology alone can fix. And religion, when reduced to formulas or performance, hasn’t helped either.
We started the Praxis Institute for Psycho-Spiritual Formation because we believe this cultural moment requires a new kind of caregiver—someone formed, not just trained. Someone who can hold space for suffering and guide others not just toward symptom relief, but toward transformation of the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
Praxis is different by design. We equip clinicians, pastors, and spiritual directors at the intersection of two fields often kept separate. Our programs are grounded in evidence-based clinical practices and deeply rooted in the historic Christian tradition of spiritual formation. This integration is what makes Praxis unique. We’re not simply adding theology to psychology or sprinkling Scripture onto clinical work—we’re cultivating a way of being that reflects the wholeness we long to see in the people we serve.
This is more than a professional calling—it’s personal. We've seen the toll this cultural moment is taking, and we’ve sensed God’s invitation to respond: not with quick fixes, but with faithfulness. Not by choosing between therapy or discipleship, but by forming a generation of caregivers who know how to do both with humility, skill, and spiritual depth.
The Praxis Institute is our response to that call.
We believe the Church is ready for a new wave of soul caregivers—those willing to go deep, live intentionally, and walk others toward wholeness. If that resonates with you, we’d love for you to join us.
